Birds Collection Cabinets Mural

Front view of mural on wall of cabinets; a boat navigates an Amazonian river

These birds collection cabinets have a rich history—painstakingly cared for, added to, and studied by Field Museum scientists and volunteers over many years. I’m humbled by the work they do and grateful they trusted me to add some love to their space.

I laid the mural’s 3-sided foundation in early 2019, but have been continuously adding birds and other Amazonian species each time I visit my friends and colleagues there.  I’m comforted by the idea that this project will never truly be “finished.”
