Alaskan Brown Bear

Alaskan Brown Bear

Three color screen print on salvaged wood

12" x 12"

Throughout my time working at The Field Museum in Chicago, I've taken advantage of my access to the masterfully prepared and beautifully designed specimen displays featured on the floor and behind the scenes there.  This ongoing personal project allows me to keep up with drawing (almost) every day, and I adapt years of sketches produced from observation into 3-color illustrations.  I screen print on paper and experiment with various materials salvaged from the museum's Exhibitions Department.  I value the history and personality brought by the discarded wood, which compliments the designs and creates a richer story.

I've displayed this work at the 2014 Chicago Renegade Art Festival and it is currently featured at Modern Cooperative, a vintage/homemade gallery in Chicago's Pilsen Arts District.
